Speaker: Dr. Ben Taylor will be presenting Gaming and Affordability. Dr Taylor's talk will cover two main topics. Firstly, it will introduce the concepts of gaming, the types of games that can be applied in the professional arena and the benefits that can be accrued from using gaming in support of decision-making processes in defense. Secondly, it will provide some specific examples of games that have been developed in areas that may be of interest to members of the affordability COP.

Dr. Ben Taylor has had a 30-year career in defense operations research and has worked in UK industry, the UK Ministry of Defence and, since 2007, the Canadian Department of National Defence. Dr. Taylor has spent much of his career in high-level force development or capability planning support roles but has also worked on acquisition processes, combat modeling and wargaming techniques.

Dr. Taylor led five-eyes work on codifying Capability Based Planning in the mid 2000s, and currently leads a NATO study on 21st Century Force Development. He is a Fellow of the Operations Research Society and a former Advisory Director of MORS. Dr. Taylor currently works within the Strategic Planning Operations Research Team at Defence Research and Development Canada and is based in Ottawa.
