The Military Operations Research Society (MORS) Cost Analysis Community of Practice (CoP) will be hosting a virtual meeting on 2 November 2021 at 1200 hours (ET). Mr. Sean Brady from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment and Mr. Matt MacGregor from the MITRE Corporation will be discussing the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) Software Acquisition Pathway.
Established under DoD Instruction 5000.02, “Operation of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework,” the Software Acquisition Pathway is intended for the timely acquisition of custom software capabilities developed for the DoD. The objective is to facilitate rapid and iterative delivery of software capability to the user by integrating modern software development techniques such as Agile Software Development, DevSecOps, and Lean Practices.
This presentation will provide an overview of the DoD’s Software Acquisition Pathway and will describe how it is transforming the way that software capability is delivered to the warfighter. Also discussed will be how the pathway, and its associated software development approaches, pose both challenges and opportunities to the cost estimating community.
