MORS is proud of its heritage as it closely reflects the heritage of Operations Research in the United States. MORS recognizes those individuals who have made long-lasting and significant contributions to the Society as Fellows of the Society. MORS is led by an elected 28-member Board of Directors and supported by a professional staff. MORS holds a DoD contract with funding from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Office of the Secretary of the Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.

- Year-round Professional Development Communities organized around the 35 Symposium Working Groups and 22 specialized Communities of Practice
- The Annual Education and Professional Colloquium for students and young analysts
- Classified and Unclassified Meetings and Workshops
- Phalanx, the quarterly magazine of National Security Analysis
